Caramelised Onion and cheese triangles

Caramalised Onion and Cheese Triangle Recipe

This delicious caramelised onion and cheese triangle recipe is perfect for any occasion.

They are easy to make, and don’t require a lot of ingredients. We like to serve these savoury triangles with our roast pepper twist triangle – recipe coming next week.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large brown onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 eggs – beaten
  • 100ml fresh milk
  • 80ml fresh cream
  • Half a tsp of nutmeg
  • Half a tsp white pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 50g gorgonzola

How to make:

  1. In a double base frying pan, heat the oil and sauté the onions until golden brown, reduce the heat and cook for a further 30 minutes over low heat.
  2. Make sure to stir occasionally, allowing the onions to become sweet and more transparent.
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees (conventional oven)
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, milk, cream, spices and salt.
  5. Arrange the triangle pastry shells on a baking tray, spoon in custard leaving room for the topping.
  6. Add a small piece of blue cheese on top and finish with some of the caramelised onions.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes and then serve either warm or at room temperature.

Enjoy 🙂
